Savannah Carnes Wins IP Rising Star Award

RJLF attorney Savannah Carnes was honored as a “North America: Intellectual Property Rising Star” at the 2025 Women in Business Law Americas Awards, presented by IFLR’s Legal Benchmarking Group. The awards ceremony took place on June 17 in New York City.

She earned this recognition for her pivotal role in securing a $673 million patent infringement victory for Kove IO, Inc. against Amazon Web Services (AWS). This case, which revolved around groundbreaking cloud storage technology capable of managing hundreds of trillions of data objects, marked the largest standing patent victory of 2024 and the 9th largest in the past decade. The high-stakes trial, held in the Northern District of Illinois, culminated in a $525 million verdict, with an additional $148 million in interest awarded by the court. The jury firmly sided with Kove, finding AWS had infringed all three of Kove’s data management and cloud storage patents.
